Protests

I read Eric Brunsell’s blog about the protest happening in Madison.  I agree with his post.  It is demoralizing when all you hear in the media is teachers being bashed.  Teachers have not been taking pay increase to keep their benefits.  If this continues who will actually want to become a teacher?  On another note, it makes me upset about the whole situation we are in.  Before our economic breakdown banks gave out home loans that they knew people would not be able to afford.  Foreclosures went through the roof.  No one was punished for what happened.  No changes were made.  The banks keep continuing to operate with no restrictions.  The country is in great debt.  The middle class lost a lot of money during our recession.  No we are trying to get out of this mess, and the middle class and the poor are the ones who have to clean up this mess.  It is very depressing.

  1. I watched the Oscars (I think it may have been the first time ever) and the documentary that won was called The Inside Job. It basically revealed the demise of the banks. When they started their acceptance speech, the first words were about how the CEOs/Presidents of those banks have not been punished. That is absolutely insane!

I agree with you on so many points you have made. First example, my husband and I just received the taxable value of our house. It went down almost 24%!!!! Perfect example of how the housing market/economy is hurting the middle class! (And just an FYI - the bank offered a much higher home loan than we knew we could afford. We did a lot of calculations to find out exactly how much we could pay per month, and still go out to eat on weekends, etc. And - it wasn't that difficult to figure out!)

Okay, I'm getting worked up now :) - but I completely agree. Something needs to change...and SOON!
